OUT OF THE WATER AND BACK INTO THE TRAILER

To put your boat back on its trailer, start by centering your trailer according to the slipway. Keep the hand brake on, the engine off and a gear engaged so that you do not back up when loading.

You can then release the winch and unwind the strap or cable until the hook reaches the chainplate ring on your boat. Take this opportunity to align the nose of the hull towards the center rollers.

Bring the boat up gently with your winch, smoothly and without jolts, to the level of the first rear supports. Do not hesitate to change gear if the effort is too great. Once the boat is correctly positioned on the diabolos, you can tie your boat to the trailer.

Remember to rinse your trailer thoroughly with fresh water after each sea trip, this will help you fight against corrosion and protect your hubs. Find all our advice to maintain your trailer in the best possible way here

Before setting off again, check several points:

  • Tightening your wheels and tire pressure, the inflation must be sufficient to give you better road holding and keep your tires longer.
  • The hitch: the boat must absolutely not move on the trailer in the event of sudden movement or sudden braking. Make sure that the lashing is properly tightened.
  • The ball and ball joint box should also be checked to avoid accident
  • The weight distribution in the trailer: too much weight on one side of the trailer can lead to imbalance. The boat must run with an empty tank, and it is important to have a safety margin of the payload when choosing the trailer.
  • Light operation: check connections, cables and bulb for malfunction.
  • The bolts and nuts of the trailer should be checked several times on your journey due to vibrations.
