HOW TO CHOOSE MY BOAT TRAILER

Weight

The first criterion for selecting your trailer is the weight it will have to carry. In fact, the models depend on the payload required.

The payload of the trailer must be greater than the sum of the combined weight of the boat and its engine, the full fuel tank, the water tank(s), the fittings and other equipment/accessories. If you do not have an exact idea of these loads, you can start with an estimate of 20% of the boat's weight.

Length

The second selection criterion is the length of the trailer.

Be careful, it does not depend on the length of the boat, but on the dimension between the aft lower deck and the chainplate ring.

The theoretical length thus obtained can be adjusted, for our brands, according to the needs up to 50 cm without impact on the compatibility of the trailer with the boat. For a given GVW, we therefore offer 3 possible lengths of trailer on our brands Nautilus, Rocca and Satellite, in order to offer you maximum flexibility.

By taking the time to properly define the length of your trailer, you will ensure that you have a model, and therefore a price, that is optimal for your boat. The launching of  your boat will also be easier, and you will avoid the risk of shocks.

Hull shape

Depending on the type of boat you buy, and the shape of its hull, the model of the trailer may differ (sailboat vs. motor for example). Do not hesitate to visit our "Trailers" page to identify the product you need.

Thanks to our 50 years of experience, and our numerous partnerships with boat manufacturers, we are now able, for the majority of them, to pre-define the technical adjustments to be made on the trailer to fit the hull of your boat.

The standard

Each boater is responsible for his vehicle but also for the safety of other users on the road and in the hold, under the provisions of road safety.

It is therefore important to make sure that your trailer is well designed in accordance with European approvals.

For 50 years, we have made it a point of honor to ensure that trailers meet the many requirements of nautical applications. As such, all our brands are equipped with a self-braking winch in order to comply with the European standard EN13157 A1. Indeed, the latter defines the handling of the boat on a trailer as a lifting operation which requires, among other things, a permanent safety brake as well as protection of the pinions and active parts of the winch.

Our trailers are equipped with the Goliath TS winch, the only winch on the market that allows the strap to unwind freely and has an automatic reengagement device for the safety under load. This winch also benefits, when the load requires it, from a double speed allowing to reduce by 50% the efforts during the ascent and descent for more comfort.

In addition, we pre-equip our trailers with the Quickflex lashing system . This patented lashing system is designed to adapt to all types of boats up to 3 tones, in strict compliance with regulations (standard EN12195 1-5). Very intuitive, it can be installed in the blink of an eye and guarantees the compliance of the vessel's lashing with the standard, while exempting the user from the responsibility of normative validation.

Comfort and convenience

Finally, the last criterion to take into account is the level of comfort and equipment you want on your trailer.

Here is an example of the features we offer on our trailers:

  • A tilting rear crossbar that allows you to launch your boat without submerging it for a longer life span.
  • Independent suspension for more comfort on long trips (Nautilus trailers only).
  • No more light plates! Our trailers are equipped with removable bulb lights (Satellite / Ocean) or waterproof LED lights (Rocca / Nautilus).
  • A whole range of additional options such as: catwalk, gallows with boot, flushing kit, etc
